August 5, 2004 journal, opening of the show "Threshold's" by the South Carolina Arts Commission at the State Museum in Columbia.  The show will travel to Lexington, Ky. and many other cities over the next two years.  I am happy to be represented in this show.

The event had a great turnout and people view the art with great interest.  I met some of the artist with work in the show as I did when it opened in Charleston in December at the City Gallery.  On the way there I encountered TCGY peach yogurt saying no sugar added.

I suffered as a result of eating that stuff as though it were loaded with sugar.  Someone mentioned to me and I believe it is true that 7-11 Stores sell only addictive products. They sell beer and tobacco, soft drinks with sugar and cookies with MSG to mention a few of the deadly products they market for consumption that puts a strain on the body to digest, causing many physical health problems for the suckers that consume the junk as they sell.

Sugar is addictive and alters taste from my experience and sweet tea is also as damaging.

This is why I paint ‘don't be a turkey’ with a turkey standing in a graveyard with 5 white heads, first a sugar head, then a flour head, a meat fat head, a milk head and a salt head.

Processed salt is changed into a poison chloride.  I believe the body needs the mineral salt if it is real salt or sea salt from the health food store.  The medical profession has promot-ed a misunderstanding of the vital cure all mineral 'salt'. I want to paint more about health.  Mr. Lake High calls me about an art show at the Columbia Farmer's Market on October 22 and 23 to coincide with a major barbeque sponsored by the SC barbecue Association.  The event is free to artist except for 10% of gross commission and a $10.00 city license. Thanks to Harriett Green and all the great staff of the South Carolina Arts Commission.  They have done a marvelous job in the selection of this art and printing of a beautiful color catalog entitled Threshold’s, Art and the Spiritual Expressions of Art and Spiritual Life. A great deal of thought and expertise has gone into this selection of the show depicting the multi religions of the South from Florida to Kentucky and I am honored to be one artist representing the Protestant Christian views especially of the Revelation Prophecy describing the end of this day of grace.  Tree of Life "The leaves are for the healing of the nations".  "I believe in the New Testament church found in the hearts of the people dedi-cated to God.  I wish to paint the model Christian life humble like Christ in his teachings. On July 6, 1989, I saw a vision to paint art with the world on fire and the coming of the Lrd.  Five years of painting any and everything including biblical art, I felt compelled to paint prophecy especially the Book of Revelation of the New Testament Bible.  I believe the Bible is the Word of God (contains the Word of God) and the Holy Spirit will reveal it. The visual arts, in my opinion, is one of the greatest communicators of all-and educat-ional device that God has given us".  This is printed on page 75 of the catalog.  There is at least 3 paintings of snakes in the show besides my painting of the great red dragon with 7 heads and 10 horns.  Why are snakes so popular?  I am horrified at the thought of snakes and I do not understand why snake handling is associated with Pentecost by the artist Matthew Stacy.  In all my experience in the Pentecostal Holiness Church, I've never seen a snake handled.   It was a serpent that deceived Eve and the devil is always represented by snakes.  Those who handle snakes in the Appalachian area are tempting God and many of them die when they are bitten. The scripture is used out of context Mark 16-18“They shall take up serpents”.  Mt.10-16 “be wise..as serpents".  Perhaps I should paint more serpents because I feel like snakes are all around me most everyday.  Every artist has a message but may express it differently.  I cannot understand why an avowed atheist carved poor Paul.
